About this bottle
The Lost Explorer Tobalá is a joven mezcal made from wild Tobalá agave grown for 10 years before harvest — the "10 Year" refers to the agave's maturity, not time in a barrel, since this mezcal is unaged and bottled clear. Tobalá is a smaller, slower-growing wild agave than the cultivated Espadín most mezcal uses, and it's prized for a more complex, less overtly smoky profile: smoky cigar box, hints of truffle and baked earth here, with vanilla pod sweetness and umami running underneath. It won a Gold medal at The Tequila & Mezcal Masters in 2021.
How to drink The Lost Explorer Tobalá
This is a sipping mezcal, not a mixing one — Tobalá's rarity and complexity are the entire reason to buy this bottle, and a Margarita would waste it. Serve neat in a small glass, unhurried.

Questions about this bottle
What is Tobalá agave?
A small, slow-growing wild agave variety that takes about a decade to mature — much rarer and slower than the cultivated Espadín used in most mezcal, and prized for a more complex flavor.
Is this mezcal aged in barrels?
No — it's a joven mezcal, bottled unaged. The '10 Year' on the label refers to the age of the agave plant at harvest, not time in wood.
