About this bottle
Chartreuse Green Liqueur has been made by Carthusian monks in the French Alps since 1764, from a secret recipe of 130 plants that only two monks at a time are permitted to know in full. Bottled at 110 proof, the liqueur is naturally green — no coloring, just the plants — and it drinks intense: herbaceous and honeyed up front, then pine, mint, anise, and a long peppery warmth. The monks cap production to protect their contemplative life, so bottles are genuinely allocated in the US. Green Chartreuse is the backbone of the Last Word and the Chartreuse Swizzle, and a fine digestif poured over ice; a little carries a long way.
