About this bottle

Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Sour Mash carries the name of the man who invented the category — the Buffalo Trace master distiller who put the first single-barrel bourbon in a bottle in 1984 and received this namesake as his honor. It draws from the distillery's higher-rye mash bill and is bottled barrel by barrel at 90 proof, each one selected to match the profile Elmer himself favored: clementine and honey on the nose, vanilla and light rye spice across a silky palate, a clean, gently sweet finish. This is one of the hardest everyday-proof bourbons to actually find — it tends to disappear the day it lands. Pour it neat for someone who values elegance over muscle.
