High West Double Rye 750 ml

Double Rye is High West's everyday rye whiskey, a blend of two straight ryes bottled at 92 proof. One is a spice-forward MGP mash of 95% rye and 5% barley malt; the other is High West's own 80% rye, 20% malted rye distillate — together they land brighter and more herbal than a single rye usually goes. The nose runs to mint, clove, and licorice root; the palate turns to menthol, lemon, and ginger tea over wildflower honey; the finish settles into warm cinnamon and a last hint of anise. Aged a minimum of two years, it holds up as a mixing rye and a neat pour alike. Build a Manhattan or Sazerac with it, or drink it over one big cube.

How to drink Double Rye

The mint and ginger-tea notes make this an easy call for a whiskey highball — a couple ounces over ice with ginger beer and a lemon twist lets that herbal streak lead. It's the rye to keep on the bar cart for whatever calls for rye spice, mixing or not, since the blend was built for both.
