Jack Daniel's Tennessee Blackberry is a flavoured whiskey — Old No. 7 taken into blackberry, part of the same fruit line as the apple and honey bottlings. The whiskey underneath is still charcoal-mellowed Tennessee whiskey, so there is oak and vanilla holding the fruit up rather than sweetness carrying the whole thing on its own. The nose is ripe blackberry and jam, the palate follows with dark berry, caramel and a light whiskey warmth, and the finish is sweet and short. It is built for mixing more than for sipping: pour it over ice with lemonade or ginger ale, or top it with soda and a lemon wedge.
