Topflight - Nulu Double Oaked Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750ml

Nulu Double Oaked is a Kentucky straight bourbon named for the Louisville neighbourhood the brand came out of, finished for a second stretch in a fresh charred oak barrel. That second barrel is the whole point. It pushes the whiskey further toward caramelised sugar and wood spice than the standard bottling goes, and darkens the colour noticeably along the way. Look for vanilla bean, toasted marshmallow and dark cherry on the nose, a palate of brown sugar, baking spice and toasted oak, and a warm finish of cocoa and char. This is a retailer selection, so the barrel is its own. Neat, or in an old fashioned with an orange twist.
