This is La Grande Dame 2018, Veuve Clicquot's prestige cuvee, dressed by the French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus, so the wine is the house's vintage blend and the artist edition is the packaging. La Grande Dame is Pinot Noir-dominant, sourced from Grand Cru vineyards and aged for years on its lees before release, which is what builds the pastry and toasted-nut character underneath the fruit. The nose gives white peach, brioche and almond. The palate is precise and chalky, with citrus and orchard fruit over a fine, persistent bead, closing long and dry.
