About this bottle
Yuu Baal Mezcal Artesanal Maguey Espadin Anejo is an aged mezcal from Yuu Baal, an Oaxaca-based producer working with the Espadin agave, by far the most common maguey used in mezcal production because it matures faster and yields more consistently than wild varieties. Aging mezcal is less traditional than for tequila, since most mezcal is bottled unaged (joven) to showcase the smoky, raw agave character from the roasting process, so an anejo held a year in oak represents a deliberate departure toward a mellower, more whiskey-adjacent profile. Expect the smoke to soften under vanilla and caramel from the wood, without disappearing entirely.
How to drink Yuu Baal Espadin Anejo
Sip it neat in a small clay copita, the traditional mezcal vessel, to let the smoke and oak both come through. It's aged enough to work in an Old Fashioned if you want a mezcal-forward twist on the classic.

Questions about this bottle
How should Yuu Baal Mezcal Anejo be served?
Sip it neat in a copita at room temperature, the traditional way to drink mezcal; a year in oak makes it smooth enough to enjoy straight without needing salt or citrus.
