The Air bottling belongs to Special Operations Salute's D-Day 80th anniversary set, which marks the anniversary across the branches that fought that morning, this one for the airborne and the aircrews. The whiskey is a five year straight bourbon, matured in new charred oak long enough to round its edges without losing the corn sweetness underneath. Vanilla and honeyed corn on the nose with a light char note, then caramel, baked apple and baking spice on the palate, finishing medium and sweet-leaning before oak dries it out. It suits a toast better than a debate about age statements. Serve it neat in company, or over one large cube.
