Linkumpinch Single Barrel Cask Strength is bourbon from one barrel at Dueling Grounds Distillery in Franklin, Kentucky, bottled without cutting it back with water. Two things follow from that. Every bottling is its own animal, since no barrel in a rickhouse tastes quite like its neighbour, and the whiskey arrives at full concentration, so the texture is thicker and the flavours louder than the same spirit proofed down. The nose is dense caramel, baked fruit and char. The palate is thick brown sugar, cinnamon and dark cherry with real heat, and the finish is long and oak-driven. Add a few drops of water and let it open up.
