Springbank Single Malt Scotch 114Pf 5 year 700ml

This Springbank is a young Campbeltown single malt bottled at 114 proof with a five-year age statement, unusually early for a distillery best known for its teenaged releases. Springbank malts its own barley on a traditional floor and bottles without chill filtration or colouring, so even at this age the spirit arrives thick and oily rather than thin and sharp. Expect a nose of brine, wet wool and green pear, a palate of barley sugar, lemon peel and a smoky, faintly industrial edge, and a long dry finish with sea salt behind it. Pour it neat, then open it up with a few drops of water.
