About this bottle
Four Pillars is one of the distilleries credited with putting Australian gin on the world map, based in Victoria's Yarra Valley, a wine region better known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay than spirits. Rare Dry Gin uses a mix of classic gin botanicals — juniper, coriander, angelica — alongside distinctly Australian ingredients like lemon myrtle and native Tasmanian pepperberry, plus a genuinely unusual step of adding whole fresh oranges directly into the still during distillation rather than just dried peel. That whole-orange technique gives it a rounder, more vibrant citrus character than most gins, bottled at a solid 41.8% ABV. It's become one of the most awarded gins globally since launching in 2013.
How to drink Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin
Build a Gin and Tonic with a fresh orange wheel instead of the usual lime or lemon — that's the garnish the distillery itself recommends, and it matches the whole-orange distillation. It also makes a bright, citrus-forward Negroni.
