Virginia Distillery Company's Virginia-Highland Malt is a single malt whiskey blending in-house distillate with Scotch single malt, a signature of the house's style. This 7-year expression carries more time in barrel than the brand's standard release, softening the youth out of the American side of the blend and letting the Scotch component's oak character come further forward. Made from 100% malted barley. Virginia's climate runs hotter and more humid than Scotland's, which pushes barrel interaction faster than a comparable Highland release. Pour it neat first to catch where the two traditions meet.

Try it side by side with a standard Highland Scotch if you have one open — the American half of the blend shows up as a touch more fruit and less peat-adjacent minerality, and tasting them back to back makes that clearer than tasting either alone.
