About this bottle
Midleton Dair Ghaelach Kilranelagh Wood Tree No. 5 is the fifth single-tree release from the Kilranelagh Wood series, once again finishing Midleton’s single pot still whiskey in virgin Irish oak from Kilranelagh Estate in County Wicklow for roughly two years before bottling. At 57.5% ABV (115 proof), it’s the highest-strength release among the Kilranelagh trees released so far, and it shows: bolder spice and oak sit alongside vanilla, butterscotch, and dried fruit, with a long finish of dark chocolate and toasted wood. It’s a more intense pour than the earlier trees in the series while keeping the same forest-driven character. Good for pot still drinkers who want the fullest expression of what this specific oak source can do.
How to drink Midleton Dair Ghaelach Kilranelagh Wood Tree No. 5
Neat is the only way to go here at first pour — this is the highest-proof tree in the series and worth tasting at full strength before adding water. A few drops will tame the spice if needed.
