Bruichladdich Distillery Islay Octomore 15.3 Edition 700 ml

Octomore 15.3 is part of Bruichladdich's annual Octomore series, the world's most heavily peated Scotch whisky program, produced at the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay. Each numbered edition carries its own peat level, cask program, and age, and the 15.3 release is aged five years and bottled at cask strength around 55.8% ABV with a peat level near 114 parts per million phenol — extreme even by Islay standards, well past Ardbeg or Laphroaig. Despite the intense peat, Octomore is known for balancing smoke with sweetness rather than pure ashiness, thanks to Bruichladdich's terroir-focused, unpeated-water approach elsewhere in its range.

How to drink Octomore 15.3

Pour it neat in a small measure and add a few drops of water — cask strength and this much peat both open up rather than disappear with a little dilution.
