The Yamazaki Single Malt Japanese Whisky Islay Peated 700ml

The Yamazaki Islay Peated is a smoky expression from Suntory's oldest single malt distillery, the peat influence coming from Islay-style malted barley rather than the unpeated make Yamazaki is usually known for. Suntory has always run several styles of spirit at the distillery so its blenders have options, and this bottling puts one of the rarer ones in the glass on its own. The nose is wood smoke, sea air and dried fruit; the palate carries peat smoke over honey, orchard fruit and a saline mineral edge; the finish is long, smoky and gently sweet. Serve it neat, or in a highball where the smoke reads beautifully.
