About this bottle
Distilled in 1988 and bottled after three decades in refill bourbon casks and hogsheads, Bruichladdich Rare Cask Series 1988 / 30 Year is an unpeated Islay single malt scotch from the distillery's pre-closure era. Nicknamed 'The Untouchable,' it predates the 1994 to 2001 shutdown, making the liquid a rare survivor of the old regime. At 46.2% ABV the profile is soft and tropical rather than smoky: dried hay, coconut, and vanilla give way to pink grapefruit, malt, and ripe pineapple that lingers into the finish. Only a limited allocation was released. This is a collector's bottle and a milestone dram — save it for a quiet night with people who will appreciate what thirty years in oak can do.
