About this bottle
Heaven's Door opened its Bootleg Series in 2019 with this 26-year-old whiskey, finished in Japanese Mizunara oak and bottled at 111.5 proof. Mizunara — a rare, porous Japanese oak prized in high-end Japanese whisky — layers sandalwood, incense, and clove over two and a half decades of American barrel age, with toasted coconut and coriander riding the long finish. Fewer than 3,000 bottles exist, each a handmade ceramic vessel printed with Bob Dylan's painting Train Tracks and cased in a numbered leather journal. The whiskey inside is old; the object around it is art. This is a bottle for the collector's shelf or the once-a-year pour — split it with people who will remember the night.
