About this bottle
Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt 17 Year is a discontinued Japanese blended malt whisky that collected World's Best Blended Malt honors at the World Whiskies Awards more than once before Nikka retired it in March 2020. The whisky bears founder Masataka Taketsuru's name and marries malts aged at least 17 years from Yoichi and Miyagikyo — the coastal distillery bringing weight and a wisp of smoke, the mountain distillery bringing orchard fruit and softness. Sherry casks run through the whole profile: dried fruit and cocoa on the nose, dark chocolate and spiced malt on the palate, a long oak-and-smoke finish at 43% ABV. Remaining stock is all there will ever be. Pour it slow, for anniversaries and arguments about the best bottle in the house.
