About this bottle
Deanston Virgin Oak is a single malt Scotch from Deanston Distillery in the Highlands, finished in virgin (new, uncharred or lightly toasted) oak casks rather than the used bourbon or sherry casks most Scotch relies on. New oak imparts stronger, more direct wood sugars and spice than a previously used barrel. Expect vanilla, coconut and baking spice on the nose from the fresh oak, a rich, sweet palate with toffee and light citrus, and a warm, spicy, moderately long finish. It's a more overtly wood-driven style than Deanston's standard bottlings.
How to drink Deanston Virgin Oak
Neat or with a single cube — the fresh oak sweetness holds up fine to a little dilution without losing the vanilla and coconut notes.
