About this bottle

Bowmore Timeless Series 27 Year Old is a single malt Scotch from Bowmore Distillery, one of Islay's oldest distilleries, founded in 1779. This limited release of 3,000 bottles spent 15 years maturing in a mix of sherry and bourbon casks before an additional 12-year finish in first-fill oloroso sherry butts, then was bottled at cask strength. The extra time in sherry wood shows in a deep golden color and a nose of dried fruit, toffee, and Bowmore's signature gentle peat smoke. The palate is smooth and layered with honey, vanilla, and baking spice, closing on a long, smoky finish that keeps the sherry influence in balance rather than letting it dominate. A collector's pour for Islay drinkers who want their peat wrapped in serious sherry-cask depth.

How to drink Bowmore Timeless 27 Year Old

Drink this neat, or with a few drops of water to open the sherry and peat further — at 52.7% ABV, a splash won't dilute it into blandness. Ice isn't the move here; this bottle is built for slow sipping, not a mixer.

Questions about this bottle

How should a cask-strength single malt like this be served?

Neat, with a few drops of water if you want to open the aromatics — cask-strength whisky is bottled well above the usual 40–46% so it can handle a little dilution without losing character.

How is Bowmore Timeless 27 Year Old aged?

15 years in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks, then finished a further 12 years in first-fill oloroso sherry butts, for 27 years total.

What is the ABV of this bottling?

52.7% ABV (105.4 proof), bottled at cask strength rather than diluted to a standard 40–46%.

Where is Bowmore whisky made?

At Bowmore Distillery on the Isle of Islay, Scotland, founded in 1779 and one of Islay's oldest working distilleries.
