About this bottle
Alexander Murray & Co. 37 Year Old is an independently bottled Highland single malt distilled in 1987 and aged nearly four decades in a single refill sherry butt before bottling at cask strength, unchillfiltered and uncolored. As with most of Alexander Murray's oldest releases, the source distillery is officially undisclosed, though the bottler has privately suggested it could be an old refill of Tamdhu based on the spirit's character. Nearly 37 years in one sherry cask produces a whisky where the wood has had decades to do its work — deep, sherry-driven and shaped almost entirely by that single barrel.
How to drink Alexander Murray 37 Year Old
Neat, and give it time in the glass before the first sip — cask strength whisky this old often needs a few minutes of air to fully open, and a splash of water can help release the sherry cask's deeper notes if the proof runs hot.
