About this bottle

Creyente Mezcal Artesanal Joven Cuishe is made from Cuishe, a wild variety of Agave karwinskii prized by mezcaleros for its long maturation and delicate, greener character compared to Espadin. As an artesanal mezcal, it's produced the traditional way: agave hearts roasted in an underground pit, crushed by hand or tahona, fermented with wild yeast in open vats, and distilled in small copper or clay stills. Bottled joven (unaged), the spirit shows the agave and the roast directly rather than through wood. Expect a clear, smoky spirit with herbal and mineral edges rather than the sweeter profile of Espadin mezcals.

How to drink Creyente Mezcal Cuishe

Sip it neat in a small copita alongside orange slices and sal de gusano, the traditional Oaxacan pairing, rather than mixing it into a cocktail that would bury the Cuishe character.

Questions about this bottle

How should I serve Creyente Mezcal Artesanal Joven Cuishe?

Sip it neat at room temperature in a small copita or rocks glass — mezcal is traditionally taken slowly rather than shot. Keep the bottle capped and out of direct sunlight; it holds its character indefinitely once opened since it doesn't continue to age in the bottle.

What cocktails work well with Creyente Mezcal Artesanal Joven Cuishe?

A Mezcal Paloma or an Oaxaca Old Fashioned are both good fits — the smoke holds its own against grapefruit soda or a sugar-and-bitters build without disappearing.
