About this bottle
McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Cask Strength comes from Clear Creek Distillery in Portland, Oregon, one of the earliest American single malt producers, built on a recipe using peated malted barley imported from Scotland rather than domestic grain. This cask-strength bottling skips the water-down step, landing at a steep 133.66 proof, well above the standard-strength McCarthy's most drinkers know. Aged six years in oak, it carries the brand's signature smoky, peated character forward at much higher intensity, with the extra proof concentrating the peat, dried fruit, and oak spice rather than diluting them.
How to drink McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Cask Strength
Add water — a lot more than you'd think — since 133.66 proof is roughly double a standard whiskey's strength and needs cutting to actually taste the malt underneath. Start with equal parts water and adjust from there.

Questions about this bottle
How should McCarthy's Oregon Single Malt Cask Strength be served?
Add water — this one is cask strength at over 130 proof, so a few drops go a long way toward taming the heat and opening the peat smoke.
