About this bottle
The Yamazaki 18 Year Mizunara 2024 Edition is a Japanese single malt from Suntory's Yamazaki distillery, Japan's oldest malt whisky distillery, aged in Mizunara oak — a rare, porous Japanese oak that's difficult to work with due to its tendency to leak, but prized for the exotic sandalwood and incense character it imparts that Western oak simply can't replicate. Eighteen years in that wood produces one of the more distinctive whiskies in Japanese distilling: rich, complex, and unmistakably tied to Yamazaki's house style. Expect dried fruit, spice, tropical notes, and the signature sandalwood-and-incense Mizunara character that has made this cask type famous among collectors.
How to drink Yamazaki 18 Year Mizunara
Serve it neat, or in a Japanese highball with excellent ice if you want a lighter serve — either way, an 18-year Mizunara malt like this rewards drinking it slowly enough to catch the sandalwood notes.
