About this bottle

Wolfburn is one of Scotland's most northerly distilleries, based in Thurso near the very top of the Highlands, and it revived a name that had been dormant since a 19th-century distillery of the same name closed. Langskip — named for the Viking longships that once sailed the nearby coast — is their no-age-statement entry expression, matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added color. Expect a lighter, honeyed style with citrus and vanilla, more in line with a Speyside malt than the peated, coastal whiskies you might expect from somewhere this far north. A solid introduction to a genuinely small, newer distillery.

How to drink Wolfburn Langskip

Drink it neat or with a few drops of water — the 46% bottling strength and lack of chill filtration mean it holds up well either way. A single malt this approachable also works fine on the rocks if you prefer it cooler.

Questions about this bottle

How should I drink Wolfburn Langskip?

Neat or with a few drops of water in a tulip glass is best — no age statement doesn't mean less character, just a blend built for consistency rather than a fixed number.

How is Wolfburn Langskip aged?

It's matured entirely in ex-bourbon barrels, which is what gives it its lighter, honeyed profile rather than the darker, spicier notes sherry casks bring.

Where is Wolfburn distilled?

Wolfburn is based in Thurso, on the far north coast of Scotland — one of the most northerly distilleries on the Scottish mainland.
