About this bottle
Claxton's Grain Barn is a 30-year-old single grain Scotch whisky from independent bottler Claxton's, sourced from grain distilled at Cameronbridge and matured in quality oak casks at Claxton's own Dalswinton Bond. Bottled at 48% ABV, three decades in wood have pushed this well past the raw, neutral character single grain whisky is often known for. The nose runs toward custard sweetness, vanilla and a trace of nutmeg, almost like a baked strudel. On the palate it's egg-custard-tart rich, wave after wave of vanilla and creamy dessert flavor, finishing satisfyingly syrupy-sweet with candied fruit and a panettone-like note lingering after. This is a whisky for someone who wants Scotch that drinks more like dessert than fire.
How to drink Claxton's Grain Barn 30 Year
Drink it neat in a Glencairn glass to catch the full custard-and-vanilla profile — this isn't a whisky built for mixing. A single large cube is fine if you want it a touch cooler, but don't drown it.

Questions about this bottle
How should Claxton's Grain Barn 30 Year be served?
Neat, in a Glencairn or tulip glass, is the best way to get the full custard and vanilla profile; one large ice cube is fine if you prefer it slightly cooler.
What kind of whisky is Claxton's Grain Barn?
It's a Single Grain Scotch Whisky, distilled at Cameronbridge and independently bottled by Claxton's after 30 years of maturation in oak.
What does a 30-year-old single grain whisky taste like?
Expect dessert-forward flavors rather than the smoke or dried fruit of a malt whisky — think vanilla, custard, and candied fruit built up over three decades in wood.
