About this bottle
Glendalough Pot Still, Irish Oak Finish is a pot still Irish whiskey from Glendalough Distillery in the Wicklow Mountains, finished in slow-toasted 250-liter hogsheads made from Irish oak harvested under a sustainable forestry program that plants seven saplings for every tree felled. Using Irish oak rather than the American or French oak most whiskey ages in is unusual and gives it its own signature profile: sweet, citrussy aromatics with vanilla, caramel, banana and treacle against earthy, herbal oak spice, a chewy, buttery palate with toffee pear and toasted tannic oak, and a long finish of creamy vanilla, almond and forest fruit.
How to drink Glendalough Pot Still Irish Oak
Neat, in a tulip glass — Irish oak's spice and tannin profile is genuinely different from the American oak most whiskey drinkers are used to, and it's worth tasting undiluted before deciding how you'd normally serve an Irish whiskey.

Questions about this bottle
What is unusual about the barrels used for this whiskey?
It's finished in casks made from Irish oak harvested in the Wicklow Mountains — most whiskey ages in American or French oak, so Irish oak brings a distinctly different spice and tannin profile.
Is the Irish oak sourced sustainably?
Yes — Glendalough sources it under a forestry program that plants seven saplings for every tree felled.
