Daristi Xtabentun 750ml

Daristi Xtabentun is a Yucatecan liqueur made in the Mayan tradition from anise and fermented honey drawn from bees that feed on the xtabentun flower, then blended with rum. It is one of the oldest drink styles in Mexico and still tastes like nothing else on the shelf. The nose is floral and sweet, honey first with licorice and anise curling behind it. The palate is thick and syrupy, wildflower honey and star anise over a light rum warmth, with a herbal bitterness keeping it from going flat. The finish is long, sweet and licorice-scented. Serve it chilled in a small glass, over ice, or poured into strong coffee.
