Michter's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey is a Kentucky-produced sour mash whiskey made from corn, rye, and malted barley, using the sour mash process — carrying over a portion of a previous batch's mash to seed fermentation — that defines nearly all American whiskey production. Michter's traces its roots to a Pennsylvania distillery dating to the 1750s, though today's bottlings are produced at the brand's modern Kentucky facility. Aged in new, charred American oak, it comes out with sweet corn and caramel on the nose, and a smooth, balanced palate of vanilla, toffee, and light oak. Bottled without an age statement at a moderate, easy-drinking proof.
