Qvevri Wine Georgia Koncho&Co Khvanchkara 750ml

Khvanchkara is Georgia's best-known semi-sweet red, made in the Racha mountains from Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes. The sweetness is not added: fermentation stops naturally in the cold mountain cellars while some grape sugar remains, which is why the wine tastes fruity rather than syrupy. The nose is ripe raspberry, red cherry and violet, the palate is sweet red fruit held in check by fresh acidity and light tannin, and the finish is sweet-tart and gently perfumed. It was famously Stalin's favourite wine, for whatever that is worth. Serve it lightly chilled with spiced food, blue cheese, or berry desserts at the end of a long dinner.
