Qvevri Wine Georgia Koncho&Co Kindzmarauli 750ml

Kindzmarauli is a naturally semi-sweet red from the Kvareli district of Kakheti, made entirely from Saperavi, the thick-skinned Georgian grape whose flesh is red rather than white. The sweetness comes from fermentation stopping while grape sugar remains, not from anything poured in afterwards, and Saperavi's natural acidity and tannin keep it from turning cloying. The nose is blackberry, black cherry and dark plum, the palate is dark and sweet with firm acidity and a dry tannic edge holding the line, and the finish is medium-long and clean. Serve it lightly chilled alongside barbecued meat, chocolate desserts, or a cheese board with something blue on it.
