Spirit Works Distillery Barrel Reserve Sloe Gin (Batch 015) 750ml

Spirit Works Distillery in Sebastopol makes everything from raw grain on site, and its sloe gin follows the English tradition properly: whole sloe berries steeped in the distillery's own gin until the fruit gives up its colour and its almond-scented stone character. This Barrel Reserve takes that steeped gin and rests it in wood, which pulls the tartness into something deeper. Dark plum, almond and warm oak on the nose, then tart sloe fruit, marzipan and juniper over vanilla, finishing long and gently sweet. Batch 015 is a small release. Sip it neat after dinner, pour it over ice with a lemon twist, or top it with sparkling wine.
