About this bottle
Carpano Antica Formula is a sweet vermouth from Carpano, the Turin house credited with inventing vermouth in 1786. This bottling recreates the original 18th-century recipe, using a blend of wine, botanicals, and spice rather than the lighter, more neutral style many modern vermouths adopted later. Expect vanilla, dried fruit, and warm baking spice on the nose, a rich, bittersweet palate, and a long, herbal finish. It's considered by many bartenders to be the standard-bearer for sweet vermouth in a Manhattan or Negroni.
