Russian Standard Gold is a premium tier release from the Russian Standard vodka house, made from winter wheat grown on the Russian steppe. It's distilled and filtered through a combination of quartz sand and silver, a step beyond the brand's standard bottling, aimed at a rounder, softer mouthfeel. The result is a smooth, faintly sweet vodka with a clean grain backbone and none of the harsh burn some mid-shelf vodkas carry. It works equally well ice-cold and straight or as the base for a vodka cocktail where you actually want the spirit to show through rather than disappear behind mixers.

How to drink Russian Standard Gold

Straight from the freezer in a chilled glass is the classic way to drink it — the silver filtration gives it enough smoothness to hold up neat. It also makes a cleaner Vodka Martini than a standard-tier vodka, since there's less raw burn to mask with vermouth.
