WhistlePig Snout to Tail Toasted Bourbon is a 10-year bourbon from WhistlePig, the Vermont farm distillery better known for rye but increasingly expanding into bourbon releases as its own farm-distilled stock matures. "Snout to Tail" points to a use-everything approach to the barrel program, and this bottling is finished in toasted (rather than charred) oak barrels, a technique that pulls out caramelized sugar and marshmallow-like sweetness instead of the deeper char flavors a standard new barrel gives. Bottled at 92 proof, expect caramel, vanilla, oak, and baking spice with a rich, smooth mouthfeel from the extended aging.
