About this bottle

Chandon Étoile is the flagship tier of Domaine Chandon's California sparkling wine program, made using the traditional Champagne method — secondary fermentation in the bottle — but grown and produced entirely in the Napa/Carneros region rather than France, so it can't legally be called Champagne under US and EU labeling rules even though the process is identical. It's a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir aged longer on the lees than Chandon's standard Brut, which builds more toast and brioche character into the wine. Domaine Chandon itself was founded by Moët & Chandon as one of the first major French Champagne houses to invest in California, back in the 1970s.

How to drink Chandon Étoile Brut

Chill it well, around 45°F, and serve in a white wine glass rather than a narrow flute to let the toast and brioche notes actually show. It pairs nicely with oysters or a simple soft cheese plate.

Questions about this bottle

What temperature should I serve Chandon Étoile Brut?

Serve it well chilled, around 45°F, in a tulip glass or flute to keep the bubbles from dissipating too fast.

How is Chandon Étoile Brut made?

It's produced using the méthode traditionnelle — the same process used for Champagne, where the second fermentation that creates the bubbles happens in the bottle.

How should I store Chandon Étoile Brut after opening?

Reseal it with a sparkling wine stopper and refrigerate it; it's best finished within a day or two since sparkling wine loses its carbonation once opened.
