Akal El Toro Rare Sherry Cask Finish 45 year 700ml

Akal El Toro Rare is an aged rum carrying a forty-five-year statement and a finishing period in sherry casks. Four and a half decades is an unusual span for rum, because at warm-climate ageing rates the angels take a heavy cut, and what remains is concentrated, dark and heavily marked by wood. The sherry finish layers dried fruit over that base. Expect raisin, fig and old leather on the nose, then a thick palate of molasses, toffee, orange peel and bitter cocoa, and a long finish that dries into oak tannin with a trace of woodsmoke. Serve it neat in a small glass, with no ice and no mixer, the way you would an old brandy.
