Becherovka is a Czech herbal liqueur made in Karlovy Vary since the early 1800s from a closely guarded recipe of herbs and spices macerated in spirit, often described locally as a digestif taken to settle the stomach after a rich meal. Cinnamon and clove tend to dominate the flavor alongside a broader mix of botanicals that the exact recipe keeps secret. Expect a nose of cinnamon and clove, a palate that's warm and spiced with herbal bitterness underneath, and a dry, aromatic finish. It's traditionally served ice-cold as a shot or used in the Beton highball with tonic water.
