Brugal 1888 is a flagship aged rum from Brugal, a major Dominican Republic rum house, named for the year the company was founded. It's a double-aged rum, matured first in American oak and then finished in Spanish sherry casks, giving a richer, more complex profile than Brugal's standard releases. Expect notes of dried fruit, toffee, dark chocolate and warm spice from the sherry finish, layered over the base rum's molasses sweetness. It's built as a sipping rum, positioned at the top of Brugal's range. Like most aged spirits, it keeps best standing upright in a cool cabinet out of direct sunlight once the bottle is open.
