Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2013 is an unpeated single malt distilled from barley grown on named Islay farms, then distilled, matured and bottled on the island — a traceability project rather than a marketing line. It is bottled without chill filtration and without added colour, so the texture stays oily and the whisky can haze over ice. The nose is barley sugar, lemon peel and salted butter; the palate brings cereal sweetness, green apple, vanilla and a coastal mineral note; the finish is long and clean with a saline edge. Drink it neat with a drop of water, and skip the ice if you want that texture intact.
