About this bottle
The 2012 Islay Barley is the unpeated side of Bruichladdich, made from barley grown by farmers on the island and distilled, aged and bottled at the distillery on the shore of Loch Indaal. Every vintage in this series tastes a little different because the harvest does, which is rather the point of it. Bottled without chill filtration or colouring, it keeps a full, slightly oily body. The nose is fresh malt, pear and sea spray; the palate carries honeyed cereal, citrus peel and light vanilla oak; the finish is clean, mineral and long. Drink it neat with a drop of water to open the fruit.
