About this bottle
Banfi's Brunello di Montalcino 2015 is a 100% Sangiovese Grosso wine from Montalcino, the hill town in Tuscany where Brunello wines are made exclusively from that clone. Castello Banfi is one of the largest estate producers in the appellation, and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG rules require years of aging before release — a minimum of two years in oak plus additional time in bottle. The result is a wine built to age further: ripe red fruit and dried herbs on the nose, dark cherry, plum, and leather on the palate, backed by firm tannins and bright acidity that carries through a long finish touched by licorice and tobacco. It rewards patience and suits a table set for a serious meal.
How to drink Banfi Brunello di Montalcino
Decant it for an hour before serving if you're opening it now — Brunello is built for age and benefits from air when it's still young. Serve around 62-65°F in a large-bowled red wine glass next to bistecca alla fiorentina, wild boar ragu, or a hard aged pecorino, the classic Tuscan pairings this wine was made for.
