About this bottle
Don Julio 1942 is an anejo tequila named for the year Don Julio Gonzalez began distilling in the highlands of Jalisco, where the red soil and altitude push agave toward sweeter, fruitier flavors than the lowlands give. The agave is cooked, distilled and then rested in American oak, and the long tapered bottle has become shorthand for the category's top shelf. This is the 375ml half bottle. Vanilla, warm oak and roasted agave on the nose; caramel, toasted almond, cocoa and gentle agave sweetness on the palate; a long, smooth, vanilla-led finish. Pour it neat in a small glass and drink it slowly, no ice required.
