El Tesoro Mundial Collection Anejo Straight Rye Cask (Knob Creek Edition) 750 ml

El Tesoro Mundial Collection Anejo comes from Destileria La Altena in Arandas, where the Camarena family still cooks agave in brick ovens, crushes it with a tahona, ferments with the fibre left in the tank and distils to proof. This release finishes the anejo in barrels that previously held Knob Creek straight rye whiskey, so rye spice runs alongside the house style rather than over the top of it. The nose is cooked agave, vanilla and baking spice; the palate brings caramel, black pepper, dried orange and a dry cereal note from the rye casks; the finish is long and warm. Sip it neat, or pour it into an agave old fashioned.
