This Elijah Craig is a private barrel selection labelled Nacho Judd, a Kentucky straight bourbon from Heaven Hill bottled from a single eight-year-old cask. Barrel picks exist because barrels differ: warehouse position, airflow and a run of hot Kentucky summers all leave their mark, and a pick is somebody's decision that this particular cask was worth bottling on its own. Eight years in new charred oak brings vanilla and caramel on the nose, a palate of brown sugar, baking spice, toasted oak and dark cherry, and a medium finish of char and pepper.
