About this bottle
G4 Añejo is a highlands tequila from Felipe Camarena's El Pandillo distillery in Jesús María, aged a minimum of 18 months in American oak barrels that once held bourbon. The tequila is verified additive-free, and the house cuts its distillate with a 50/50 blend of rainwater and natural spring water — one reason the agave stays so present under the oak. Stone-oven-cooked agave meets a handmade tahona here, and the result drinks with cooked agave and vanilla up front, mild black pepper behind it, and a slightly dry finish. The barrel rounds the edges without burying the plant. Pour it neat after dinner, or hand it to a bourbon drinker ready to cross over.
How to drink G4 Añejo
Pour it neat in a rocks glass and give it a minute before tasting — the vanilla and black pepper need a beat to come forward from behind the oak. It also works well next to a glass of bourbon if you want to compare how the two barrels handle differently.
