Hunter & Mazzetti Vineyards Syrah 2022 14.2% Alc/Vol 750ml

Hunter & Mazzetti Vineyards Syrah is from the 2022 vintage and is bottled at 14.2% alcohol. Syrah sits at the darker, more savoury end of the red spectrum: less about sweet fruit than about pepper, smoke and something closer to meat. Blackberry and violet come first on the nose, with cracked black pepper behind them. The palate is full without being heavy, running through dark plum, olive, cured meat and a line of oak spice, and the finish is dry with fine-grained tannin. Decant it for half an hour, serve at cool room temperature, and put it next to lamb, sausage or grilled vegetables.
