About this bottle
Ilegal Joven is the unaged mezcal in the Ilegal Mezcal range, made from 100% Espadín agave in the village of San Luis del Río, Oaxaca, Mexico. The agave is roasted in traditional earthen pits and double-distilled in copper stills before bottling clear at 40% ABV. Expect a smoky, earthy nose with citrus and herbal notes, and a smooth palate carrying real roasted agave character. It's the entry point into the Ilegal range and a good introduction to traditional mezcal before trying the brand's reposado or añejo.
How to drink Ilegal Joven
Sip it neat in a copita with orange slices and sal de gusano, the traditional Oaxacan serve. It's also a strong choice for a Mezcal Margarita if you want the smoke to lead over the lime.
