J.T. Meleck High Proof is the cask-strength sibling to the distillery's Small Batch rice whiskey, made the same way — 100% Louisiana rice, grown and distilled on J.T. Meleck's own farm in Branch, Louisiana — but aged over four years in new American oak and bottled at 59% ABV without dilution down to a standard proof. Amber in color, it opens with butterscotch, toffee, and toasted oak on the nose, then moves into caramel butter, vanilla, and warm baking spice on the palate. The extra proof means it carries more heat and intensity than the standard bottling, so it rewards a slower sip or a splash of water. Good for whiskey drinkers who want rice whiskey with more punch behind it.
